An Annual Shucking Championship

Join us at the Bearfoot Bistro on Sunday July 10th to see the world’s best shuckers compete. Oysters and wines have been donated by top suppliers and all proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross Japan Relief. As always, complete with a dynamic atmosphere, live music and a fresh twist on standard competition, Bearfoot Bistro events are infamous and this afternoon reception is one not to be missed.

The Bearfoot Bistro has been internationally recognized for its devotion to celebration. ‘Celebrate food, wine, life’ has long been the inspiring motto behind the unique and memorable events held at the award-winning Whistler establishment. Praised by media from around the world for exceptional cuisine, quality service and innovative ideas, the Bearfoot Bistro is proud to present the 1st Annual Bearfoot Bistro World Oyster Invitational.

In true Bearfoot Bistro fashion, the first annual shucking championship will host 18 of the world’s best shuckers in 3 qualifying heats. The leader of each qualifying heat will then go head to head in the finals– one will be named winner. With the world’s best in one arena they have been offered the opportunity to attempt to break the current Guinness World Record of Oyster Opening – Most in a minute. The current record is 38 and we look forward to seeing which of the shuckers will take on this challenge.
Guests of the event will also be able to participate in judging the best mignonette.
